Superman: WB buys a clue. World ends.

AICN is reporting here that WB have hired Bryan Singer (of X-Men and X2) and team to direct and write "Superman Returns". It WON'T be an origin story, and will supposedly tie in with the Christopher Reeve movies.

Sounds great. McG and Michael Bay didn't exactly inspire hope for me. And IMHO the Supes origin is one of several origin stories that we don't need to see another take on. Everyone knows it already.

It sounded good at first, but then I heard about how they want to tie in the new movie to the original ones with Christopher Reeve. Which, right there, makes me want to double over and throw up. I want NOTHING tieing the current movies to the old ones. Those old Superman movies came out WAY before the Batman movies, yet the new Batman movie will have nothing to do with them. Why tie the new Superman movies to the old films, which were utter crap save for the 2nd one? Gah, they're NEVER going to get it right.

More likely, WB will wait for Batman Begins to premiere before putting their largest franchise on the screen again...

If they do decide to tie it in with the earlier movies, please only tie it in with the first two. The last two were total crap.
