Surprising PDFs?

So have you ever picked read a PDF file and been surprised? Phil Reed's work often did that for me when he first started as no one was covering mundane items or spellbooks.

Poisoncraft is a new one from a company that I've never heard of before that also made me think twice about PDFs. It's professionally done in almost every way and in addition to the standard d20 content, has rules for AU. Pretty good overall.

So has anyone else had experiences like that where something from left field hit you and you were just like, "Now where did that come from?"

I agree on the Phil Reed stuff wholeheartedly. Another one that surprised me was the alternate rules for psionic combat from the Mindscapes book. I hadn't looked too deeply into it and another player in our group was playing a psion using those rules (this was before the expanded psionics came out, of course). I was really impressed by it in practice and it made psionic combat interesting even for those who weren't directly involved in it.

Philip Reed was no suprise, he's an experience game writer and has been doing quality material fora pretty long time. Poisoncraft was a suprise, I think its their first book which explains why you hadn't heard of them.
