Man, 67 views and no bites. The suck must be strong with our little game group. :-) In an effort to entice folks joining, here's the latest recap as well as the previous two sessions to begin the current story arc. I'll try to remember to post them here. Session 44 Players : Eric, Wes, Norm, Terry, Brad ----------------------------------------------------------------- Date: C.Y.1980.01.11 On a tiny island somewhere East of Delila XP (Session 44): 1925 ----------------------------------------------------------------- Recap : After dealing with the positive energy golem the next room held a pedestal with a golden skull on it. A quick search revealed that the area under the skull seemed capable of being depressed, or raising, perhaps if the weight of the skull were disturbed? Lacking a sack full of sand, Ergos just grabbed the golden skull only to find that it was painted gold and not real. A small silver key in the shape of an ankh did fall out from under the skull however. A fireball blasted the room for Ergos' efforts. The doorway was also a fake, and also trapped to trigger a fireball. The next chamber was empty but the one beyond that held 10 snake headed full plate clad warriors. It was eventually learned that they could be turned and ultimately this is how the party was able to defeat them without too much damage, through Byron's mastery of negative energy. Inside were apparently the skeletons of normal humans (no snake heads) which had been transformed into steel. The party snagged a magic flail from each and continued onward. The next chamber held a tripwire, with a pit trap cleverly placed just beyond the trip wire. Not being foolish the party was able to discover the trap and bypass the pit. Sadly, the second pit trap was discovered the old fashioned way and held an undead ghoulish gelatinous cube which nearly ended Aakeem's life. The next room was empty (what's with all these empty rooms? did they just build pyramids with empty rooms or did they once have some deadly trap in them?). Beyond that was a bird headed statue which turned out to be a golem. After a not terribly difficult fight the group dispatched him and looted his blast staff (size large). The last room explored held some magical runes and a blatant spot to write in an translation and this is where we left off. The map is included, as are the runes in case anyone wants to work on translating them. Two Sessions Ago: After clearing out Eel Hollow, the group was going to resume their nefarious plans when a messenger arrived and asked the group to go meet Terzaline. Terzaline was a sea hag which the party had had friendly dealings with in the past, given this they decided to pay her a visit. Similar to the first time the group dealt with her, she has a job in mind for the party. She had identified a tiny little island and wanted to party to do some housecleaning and make it safe for her to relocate her new covey. The party was hopeful that the island could help serve to reinvigorate the group's cash flow and agreed (plus the goodwill of a covey of hags is not without value). Arriving at the lagoon, the group was attacked by some sort of huge plant creature which managed to burrow away before being killed. With it scared away and severely wounded for the time, it seemed unlikely to return soon so the group set about exploring the little island. In addition to unusual stone obelisks, they found many small bird tracks and an ancient stone road. Following this lead to a small pyramid and some ruined structures. Skipping the structures the group checked out the pyramid and concluded it was a tomb which has long ago been sealed. Not wishing to defile the tomb at this time, they moved along the road towards the center of the island. En route to the center of the island, the group was set upon by a swarm of tiny dinosaurs, apparently the source of the previously discovered 'bird' tracks. The party dispatched the lizards and a raptor which wandered into the fray with the lure of an meal. The center held a large pyramid with massive doors standing ajar, as well as a small squat obelisk which turned out to be some sort of building. This building held a magical pedestal full of some crystals. The group is just approaching the doors of the larger pyramid when we left off. Previous Session: Eventually the divine members of the party determined that they could safely ascend the altar and did so. When Argyle attempted to ascend the Dias however the statues of Anubis seemed to animate and attempted to attack Argyle, to the exclusion of any other potential targets within the chamber. Argyle was saved by being scooped up and ushered out of the throne room by Byron's Trex. Argyle stayed outside as the statues did not pursue him out of the throne room. While Argyle rested some of the party looked around the throne room some more. After some investigation Byron and Tau Rii discovered a secret door behind the throne and opened it to explore beyond. Ergos, being unable to approach the altar safely, proceeded to explore the remainder of the throne room with painstaking thoroughness while Tau Rii administered to the severely wounded Argyle outside. Ergos' tenacity paid off when he discovered another secret door behind the pile of bones. By the time Ergos, Icky, the throne room monkey, and everyone else made the decision to go through the newly found secret door Byron had managed to lock himself into a hallway which was marked as some type of test. The entire group entered the hallway and elected to leave the rest of the pyramid for future exploration and instead provide some backup for Byron. Once the group noticed that the monkey had followed them, they stuck it back outside and locked it in the throne room where they found it. The first section of hallway was empty but the second section held a group of sarcophagi which Aakeem was able to bypass. The next area beyond that held a creature the party was eventually able to determine was a positive energy golem. This creature was defeated in short order but with a significant expenditure of resources as well. As the party presses on, apparently trapped in this hallway until such time as they are either killed or proven worthy, they press on and wonder what riches and wealth they are fighting for in the promised 'paradise'.
