SW Saga CRUNCH! Will we see the standardized 1, 2, 5 and 10 modifiers in 4th edition?

For those who're familiar with SW Saga, every number for modifiers (or penalties) revolves around these four numbers - 1, 2, 5 and 10.

I know this is wild speculation (and I've already taken this into consideration for my own hybridized Saga to fantasy conversion), but do you expect to see the same sort of number standardization with 4th edition?

Hope so too.

That was also one of the first things that stood out to me in Saga too. I loved this progression. It was very easy to use and remember.

I honestly can't say with what you've provided, having not played SAGA. Are you saying that ability modifiers run +/- 1, 2, 5, or 10? or are your referring to some other modifiers?

Modifiers in general. Instead of, say, bonuses from Feats or situational modifiers being all over the map, they're all 1 (rarely), 2, 5 or 10, which makes them a lot easier to remember.

I hope this continues into 4E. If nothing else I've always wondered what the story was with D&D's +/-4 fetish.

Examples from Star Wars Saga Edition:

penalties from condition track move -1, -2, -5, -10, helpless
range penalties for extended ranges: short -2, medium -5, long -10
Penalty for non-proficiency in a given weapon group: -5

And so on.

I'm a fan of that Saga thing. It makes it easy to adjudicate random bonuses or penalties that might apply on some sort of rational continuum, and it gives significant bonuses without piling up little ones.

I wouldn't mind it either as long as the system is well designed around it. There's a few numbers in Saga I think they had to force into the mold, hopefully that can be smoothed out in the new edition.
