Swashbuckler feat?

Weapon Finesse? ;)

Depends on your focus, really.

A Duelist (deals with one foe at a time) would benefit from Combat Experise; Imp. Fient, Imp Disarm, Dodge, Melee Evasion*, and Greater Combat Expertise

A Dual-Wielder (rapier/dagger or something) should go twf, imp twf, grt twf, twdefense, imp twd, gtr twd, dual strike, and two weapon rend*

A Skirmisher (mobility) should take dodge, mobility, spring attack, bounding assault*, rapid blitz*, and Improved Critical

There are other ideas as well, but any feats the emphasize mobility, defense, or panache all work well.

* feat comes from PH2, others from CW or PH.

Combat Expertise, Improved Disarm, Improved Feint.

Dodge, Mobility, Spring Attack, Elusive Target.

Quick Draw, Combat Reflexes, Melee Evasion.

Weapon Focus (Rapier), Improved Critical (Rapier), possibly any two-weapon fighting feats.

Any of the Combat Focus line of feats.

And wasn't there an improved weapon finesse somewhere? Lets you apply your dex mod to damage - or did I imagine that in a fever dream?

I think Improved Critical (rapier) and Power Critical (rapier) are the most essential so you can take full advantage of the Weakening and Wounding Critical abilities. I also like combining that with the Two Weapon Fighting chain.

Dragon #301 has an article about swashbuckling - that includes an entire series of "parry" feats that are pretty cool and really help the "fencing" style.

But of course, make sure you talk it out with your DM

Elusive Target is a very popular choice. It's a fairly powerful Tactical feat and it happens to fit in with the traditional view of the agile swashbuckler.

That said, the Combat Expertise tree is also pretty nifty considering you won't be wearing heavy armor or (most likely) carrying a shield. Improved Disarm fits the idea of a swashbuckler, but in my experience isn't a particularly useful feat.

Yes, it's been provided in several D20 books...I'm just not sure if it has been put in a D&D book.....one of the Scarred Lands Players Guides (Fighters & Barbarians?) I believe, as well as Swashbuckling Adventurers (Extra Finesse) have a similar feat as well.
