The last time I brought this up, it looked like a July release. I can't get into Alliance Games right now to check.

It's awesome in its sheer crunchiness, editing problems aside. It's made a fantastic addition to my gaming library and immeasurably enhanced my D&D game, despite the fact that I'm not running a 3 Musketeers/Pirates/Renaissance campaign setting like 7th Sea. It will work for any setting, so buy it! :D

I was impressed by the lack of information on the setting. Very useful book in many areas. I haven't finished looking over it yet though. Are there any sections that talk about using some of the feats in a standard setting? I can see where everyone would be running around without any armor in some instances but I don't think that fits too well with the standard D&D setting so I'm hoping there is advice on which feats to limit and which to allow.

I don't believe there are any guidelines in the book on how to limit feats for certain settings--the book assumes you are using 7th Sea and if not, can "wing it" from there with house rules, which seems sensible. I'm using the Unarmored Defense Proficiency feats with a medieval setting and it's working fine for the spellcasters in the group. Very helpful feats, and not necessarily unbalancing, I think. It does cost a feat to get and doesn't stack with armor bonuses, such as from some protection spells or magic items.

"Assume"???

What if I do not possess any of the 7th Sea products from AEG? Am I required to own one to play the setting in d20? That is a far cry from their Rokugan marketing plan.

Certainly not; everything you need to begin play in the 7th Sea setting is presented in the book. Owning the various kingdom expansion books will help with providing extra detail, however, and I would not want to play without owning at least one (I have Montaigne, which was well-written and useful). But you don't "need" them to play. I'm just a stickler for detail and want to be as intimately famililar with the location as possible before starting a game there.
