As some of you know, I've been using Laelith, a fantasy city published in France. I used an edition from the early 90's, and the folded map I have of the city starts to fall apart. I am taking GREAT care of it, but still, using it, folding and unfolding it, does its damage with time.I'm planning on using Ptolus not only once, but for campaignS. And I want to keep the book and its maps clean as much as I can while still using them for the games. That's where the vinyl map comes in: I wish I had such a map for Laelith. So I'll get it for Ptolus. It will last in time. Sometimes I'll use the fold-up map from the book, sometimes refer to the Player's Guide, and sometimes unfold the huge map during the game, which will keep all of these in relatively good shape for a while, if everything goes according to plan.During my last campaign, I also used the map of Laelith to figure the positions of the the PCs in town. We would roleplay this or that moment, and then shift to another part of the group being in another part of town, while keeping the miniatures on the map to locate everyone. I'll use the big map for such moments, definitely. I'll put it over the table or on the floor and that'll be a great visual help.
