Better late than never, the newest issue of Sword's Edge is up at http://www.swordsedge.net/.

For those of you're looking for a good read, it's got fiction from Terry D. Scheerer, Christian R. Bonawandt, Jack Pescatello, M. Jones, Robert Williams and the fifth chapter of "The Burr Conspiracy," an alternate-history serial by CJ Burch.

For movie aficionados, there are reviews of Ridley Scott's Black Hawk Down and Luc Besson's the Messenger. For book reviews, this issue has got The Duke of Uranium, Those Who Walk In Darkness, The Left Hand of Destiny, Amazing Journeys Magazine and from ENWorld's book club, Dragondoom .

And for those of you who really enjoyed last month's "Gamer's Table" article on "The Mechanics of Melee," part two is waiting for you.

What are you waiting for? Check it out!

Out of curiosity, have you considered offering the e-zine as a downloadable pdf as well as posting it on your site? (I'm assuming you're the one who does the e-zine. :) )

I did a couple of times, but the problem is the PDF maker I use (PDF995) doesn't do the links (though it still has them in blue and underlined, as though they should link). I'm working on preparing a PDF copy for this issue as well, but I feel kind of bad not being able to offer a full featured PDF.

Yeah, it's kinda tough without a high-end pdf maker like Acrobat. Although InDesign is a great solution, since it exports great pdfs and doesnt' require Acrobat. But given the price tag, that probably doesn't help at all... :)

Check out www.openoffice.org
The latest version exports documents into PDF format.

(It's a free opensource MS Office alternative)

Thanks for the hint back when the last issue came out. The new issue is out in PDF thanks to Open Office. Originally, I formatted everything in Word and then tried to just use Open Office to export it into PDF, but I found that created a lot of formatting problems. Next time, I'll do a basic format for each story/review/etc in Word and then do the issue formatting in Open Office. Once one uses it a bit, its quite good.

Thanks again!

For future reference, people using a Mac under OS X can automatically create PDFs from documents. If you're in Word, and go to print a doc, there is a button named "Save as PDF." Click it, and you're done.

So if you have a friend with OS X, burn it to disk or email it to them & take a quick trip to their computer.

Good luck!
