I think discussions of the Star Wars prequels should be officially BANNED from threads like this... same goes for the Matrix sequels. If only because I'm tired of having to constantly defend both franchises.
As far as books go... well... Perdido Street Station was definitely "cooler in theory" than in practice. Reading the Dragonlance modules was much more fun than reading the novels, I found out (I read the mods first).
