Tables of Contents contents?

Whizbang Dustyboots

Gnometown Hero
Short of getting an illegal PDF, does anyone know of a way to find the complete table of contents from the 1E PHB, MM1 and DMG?

I'd like to look at what spells, monsters and magic items from 1E didn't make it into 3E and the SRD, but obviously, I need a master list to work off of.

If you can find them on Amazon, they sometimes have some "sample" pages available, including the ToC.

For example, here is the DMG.

Re: the PHB & DMG - I am not sure that the information you are looking for is listed in the Table of Contents. What you want is the Player's Handbook Reference Sheets from the back of the book. Unfortunately, I am not sure if or where there is a legal online copy.

The DMG doesn't have a very good Table of Contents or Index, either. You really need to examine the heart of the book to get the information.

OSRIC may be the closet legal source that I can think of.

Re: the MM I - I have various random encounter tables built on my computer that should include all the monsters from the MM I. PM me and I can email you a list. For starters, I am not sure that the Baluchitherium has ever been updated to 3.0/3.5/Pathfinder. :p

Ugh, the Amazon preview of the table of contents is depressing. It looks like I'm going to need a look at the actual contents of all the books. I guess I'd forgotten that lousy tables of contents in RPGs isn't exactly a new thing.

On the morality of pirate pdfs

Here's how I look at it.

I would not buy a book from a bookstore or a gamestore without browsing it thoroughly first.

Therefore, I feel morally ok downloading pdfs for browsing purposes. Then, I either delete them if I don't like them or buy hardcopies if I do.

Anyway, just my $0.02.
