In that you are right... but also the materials for those mats are ALSO cheaper too. I have two large chessex brand mats (mondo mats) and they get heavily stained at the best of times with markings and I hate that. I am always trying to find ways to figure out how to get the stains off. Not to mention that I always worry if one person at my table is going to wreck them with using dry erase markers. Then there are the Paizo flip mats which I absolutely LOVE but again they are not as durable as the Tact-Tiles too. They also have creases in them that make standing miniatures on the crease difficult and the crease can eventually come apart at the corners or even along the fold. Also the printing on the flip mats is gorgeous but limited in use for only that type of print. I have 44 of the Flip mats so I use a wide variety of prints but on the same token not nearly as much as I use my chessex mats. So the Tact-Tiles are easy to transport. They do not stain. They are one of the most durable of gaming surfaces out there and with no staining AND they can use wet or dry erase markers. Will I give up on the other gaming surfaces.. absolutely not. But having this in my gaming arsenal is going to be awesome!!</blockquote>
