A little story, and a question. For a long time in the career of one of my favorite characters (At the time a level 10 Death Master, Level 5 Horned Harbinger) After reading "Hero's of Battle" An idea had hit me about how to deal with the local dictator........And in secret set to gathering a few items to make it easier. It turned out to be easier then I thought. I was a Necromancer, The group wasn't surprised of anything weird I did....And the DM didn't even notice why I was looking for things for a while..........Until I started hunting for big amounts of Onyx. When my DM realized....He decided to go along with it, half due to his rule of "If you can pull it off, I'm ok with it", and half "I want to see if he CAN pull it off" The party, as most of us were a little worried about the concept of getting into a fortress city to kill the king and any possible successors our selves, Jumped on the chance to take a different way. And thus we set off for the next four sessions to gather, and our DM ended up diving into turning this into a bloody brilliant new path.....Given how rushed he was I was surprised. ANYWAY, In four sessions we found and bested a Lich, but instead of killing him, we offered him all the riches and magic items he could want from the Castle vault in return for his life.......And of course we would keep his Phylactery as Insurance. Our Cleric of Jergal managed to call on the assistance of his Master.........And soon we had Shadow's............ We managed to help our Wizard to build four Stone Golems. The gathering of so much Necromantic Energy had it's disadvantages of course......Though it attracted a few Necromancers, and a few brave merchants willing to supply us some cheap weapons.........It also attracted a band of Paladins that Beat me near death (Pun intended) and Impaled our Monk. But the march to the raising site began, quite a few would be from the corpses of our targets Kingdom as well, from mass graves, which he had convieniantly created a good half mile away from the walls. I was waiting for our DM to let the hammer fall..........The Garrison spotting us and Marching to butcher us before we could prepare, or one of our shaky bunch of allies going rogue...... But it didn't..... Anyway, I've eaten a lot of your time up with that little, badly written account, and will not eat up more with the next part :P Have anyone else here had a similar case in one of their Campaigns? Fought in an Army?.. Fought one? Created and Led one? Advice? Tactics? Stories?.......................This thread is for any of them Given the lack of threads on this area, small though it may be, I have decided to start one. All contributions and questions are welcome.........who knows, enough posts and I'll tell you what happened next in my little tale :D Dynaphus~
