Talisan - Anyone got it?

Paizo's online store shows that it's available. So does anyone have the new Talisman board game?

For newbies, how good is it?

For veterans, how good is it?

Is there any indication that any expansions are imminent?

I don't have it, but I got to play a game of it with fellow Enworld/CMers. I had a blast, but I attribute at least some of that to the people I was playing with (barsoomcore, stevejung, Hellhound, Hypersmurf, Xath's bf, & reveal).

When I have the spare cash, I plan on picking up my own copy.

Everytime I played Talisman I had a blast, although I never had a chance to own the game myself.

It's awesome, the same group that I use to play Settlers of Catan with were also Talisman junkies.

I couldn't recommend it more highly, although I've not seen this version of the game, I do plan on buying it myself.

To be fair, we didn't finish the game - I get the impression Talisman is still a four hour game that's fun for three hours :)

(We also had an accidental house rule that Toads retain special abilities... so we had a Thief Toad steal a mule from a market (which immediately dropped in the space, since the Toad couldn't take it with him), and a Warrior Toad who rolled two dice in combat (and killed the Thief Toad). I think I'll make it an official house rule next time I get a chance to play :D )

Thanks for the review Merric. I hope to hit the FLGS with some buddies to play their demo of Talisman 4E. We all have played 2E before but none of us have anything but the expansions now so a cheaper alternative to the ebay pricing for it is great!

I got it, and we played last Friday night - six of us. I don't know how anyone plays in 90 minutes. We played for 4 hours and called the game, with only one person making it even close to the center! We had two folks who'd played before and 4 newbs, so that could be part of it (about halfway through we realized the limits on the # of spells you can cast per turn, for example) - but even so, next time we play we're using some of the speed up rules.

Still, it was a fun night, and thats the point. The game play itself is pretty smooth and interesting. Nice production values, although the various cards are a little thin and bend easily.
