The gnome pauses for a moment to return Saranna's glib comment with a look of utter seriousness. "Don't be foolish, child. That is not how it works." With that, he turns and begins to make his way to the back of the tavern. As they wind their way around the tables and chairs, most of which were clearly made for beings of a larger size, the gnome responds to her greeting over his shoulder. "Of course you are - the rich halfling girl from Iradys," he says with a wave of his hand, "How could I wait for someone if I did not know for whom I was waiting? Come, come..." he says, deftly threading his way around an over-sized half-orc lying prone across a table, his face to one side, a slight puddle of drool forming. The gnome places his hand on the nob of a door to a back room as Saranna inquires about him. Turning to face her, he says a matter of factly, "I am your employer, of course." With that, he opens the door. Inside, there is a smallish table with five chairs around it, at least two of which were clearly proportioned for the gnome and the halfling. As he makes his way around the table, the gnome gestures to one of these smaller chairs. "Sit, sit, my dear, and don't look so worrisome - no one's out to get you. At least, not here, not tonight," he adds with an impish grin. Taking a seat in another of the smaller chairs, which is positioned facing the door, the gnome reaches into an almost comically large pack lying next to the seat - "Might as well keep ourselves occupied whilst we wait, no?" - and pulls out what looks to be an over-sized deck of cards. Eying the deck with an expression that seems akin to disappointment, the gnome sighs dejectedly. "They're not my best, of course - that's why you're here - but they'll do in a pinch." Looking up to again stare at Saranna with those nebulous eyes, he says, "So - shall we begin?" [ooc]I thought about filling you in a bit, but figured that half the fun comes from the not knowing. Let me know if you want a little more OOC info, otherwise we'll just continue to play until others show up. Perhaps I should start the adventure thread, however; if any of the judges has some input on that front, please do chime in.[/ooc]
