A bit after some of his shipmates arrive, a halfork arrives in the tavern, only slightly worse for the rain. He is guarded by a menacing iron canine, even larger that the last time his friends had seen it, mostly due to some bulky additional iron work to give it more mass and strength (the halfork's personal project during his recent airship trip). As he waddles up to the bar—he is quite unbalanced due to all the accouterments hanging from his cloak, though the weight does not seem to bother him anymore—the greasy haired halforc waves familiarly to Brews. Heya, Brews! Still Tondrek. I made a new Doggie! And found out what secrets lie beneath a pretty demon lady! Which was true. Sort of. Seeing the artificer Maerek attempting to recruit, Tondrek happily attempts to engage his "colleague" in discussion. However, though the latter is impressed (and perplexed) by the former's canine construct, he seems quite off put by Tondrek's smell. And lack of manners. And apparent explosives strapped carelessly about his person. Tondrek shrugs as Maerek turns down his offer of help, and instead says, 'K. I go and make me a new hand! Which draws even further strange looks as the halfork retires to his room upstairs. For the next few hours, strange thumping and banging can be heard from above. Occasionally, a small waxy figure would emerge, leave the Shard, and return with various implements: Wire, detritus, a sack of a bilious looking fluid. The last time, it comes back with a rather rusty looking bone saw. Brews looks about to say something... but thinks better of it as the homunculus disappears behind the threshold. Ten minutes later, after a disturbing crescendo, Tondrek's voice can be heard. Ow. OW. OOWW OOWW OUCHIEEEEE! One of the waitresses attempts to rush up to the room, but the fierce iron construct guarding the door dissuades her. There is a loud thump, a sloshing (or squishing?) sound, a few more bangs, sizzling (soon followed by a pungent order not dissimilar to burnt bacon), and then silence. The door stays closed for another ten minutes, guarded silently by Doggie. Then it opened. Tondrek seemed fine, if a little paler. Except around his right arm. Which was gone, below the elbow anyway, replaced instead by a complex working of iron, steel, and random bits of what was hopefully metal that ended in what appeared to be an oversized gauntlet mechanism. As the halfork waved cheerily, it was clear the the "new hand" worked, regardless of the weird fluid that sporadically leaked from it.
