I've been with my girlfriend for nearly 5 years (started going out late in high school, we're 21 now)... I don't have any cute "love at first sight" stories for you all, since the first time I met her I was a bit too young to be thinking such things. My twelve-year-old siblings were watching some old home videos one day. They called my dad and I in to watch something funny - I don't recall what, now - and following that he began skimming through. He happened upon a point where another brother and I were being filmed making Valentine's Day cards. I was in about grade 4 when this was shot, still being forced into the elementary school custom of cranking off a card for everyone on the class list. Aaaanyways, dad-of-many-years-ago with the camera asks little me if I have a valentine this year. Big me thinks "damn, I'm going to say something embarassing." But no, I should have had more faith - they didn't call me a gifted child for nothing... guess who little me named with absolutely no hesitation? It's funnier, and more charming, when you consider that we really didn't start hanging out together until high school, and took another year or so after that for the attraction to sink in.
