templates for PCs

After reading Dmg templates on Pg. 175 and class templates I decided to try to find a way to put templates available to my players. I found that I could mix some templates with paragon paths and some other templates with epic destinies and get lots more options for new and interesting character builds. So far I got those options:

FEAT:
Unique destiny.
Prerequisite: level 11.

Benefit: You have some unique and remarkable features that distinguishes you from others of your kind. Such features were attained maybe in form of a pact with feylords or demonic entities, or even came from an overwhelming understanding of elemental forces that surrounds you.
Choose one template of those below, according to your class, and replace your normal paragon path features or epic destiny features with the template features. In case of paragon tier template: Choose one paragon path you could normally choose and use its powers normally.

Special: you can only take this feat once.



TEMPLATES

Battle champion:
Classes: fighter, paladin,warlord.
Tier: paragon.
Type: unchanged.

The battle champion is a tougher-than-normal humanoid
monster from a civilized tribe or nation, such as
a goblin king, a drow duelist, or the commander of a
garrison of dwarves. It is not only a skilled warrior, but
also a rallying point for allies in combat.

11th: replace your paragon path feature with: Battle lord tactics.

11th: replace your paragon path feature with: Battle talent.

16th: replace your paragon path feature with: inspiring assault.

Death knight
Classes: fighter,paladin.
Tier:epic.
Type: undead.

Death knights were once powerful warriors who have
been granted eternal undeath, whether as punishment
for a grave betrayal or reward for a lifetime of servitude
to a dark master. A death knight’s soul is bound
to the weapon it wields, adding necrotic power to its
undiminished martial prowess. Death knights make
good leaders for groups of undead creatures.

21th: replace your epic destiny feature with:senses darkvision, Immune disease, poison, Resist 10 necrotic
at 11th level, 15 necrotic at 21st level, Vulnerable 10 radiant.

24th : replace your epic destiny feature with: marshal undead.

26th: replace your epic destiny feature with: soul weapon.

30th replace your epic destiny feature with: unholy flames.

Death master
Classes: wizard,cleric,warlock.
Tier:paragon.
Type: shadow.

A death master is the epitome of necromantic power.
It can call undead creatures from the grave to serve it
and to smite its enemies with fell magic that drain life
energy for its own use.

11th: replace your paragon feature with: Resist 5 necrotic at 1st level, 10 necrotic at 11th level, 15
necrotic at 21st level

11th: replace your paragon feature with: Shroud of the grave

16th: replace your paragon feature with: Call of the grave.

Demonic Acolyte
Classes: wizard,cleric,warlock.
Tier: epic
Type: unchanged.

This template reflects grim priests of Orcus, raving
cult lords of Demogorgon, sacred berserkers of
Baphomet, and devotees of other demon lords. A
demon lord must personally invest power in an acolyte,
making such foes particularly dangerous.

21th: replace your epic destiny feature with:Resist 5 (choose one type) at 1st level, 10 (choose two types)at 11th level, 15 (choose three types) at 21st level

24th: replace your epic destiny feature with: shield of abyssal majesty

26th: replace your epic destiny feature with:abyssal might

30th: replace your epic destiny feature with:consume soul.

Feyborn
Classes: any
Tier: paragon.
Type: fey

Feyborn creatures embody the Feywild. They have
been subtly transformed by the plane’s powerful,
uncontrolled magic. Some underwent prolonged exposure
to powerful fey magic. Others are favorites of fey
lords, who granted them special boons in return for
faithful service.

11th: replace your paragon feature with: Step Through the Mists

11th: replace your paragon feature with: undeniable beauty

16th: replace your paragon feature with: lure of the wild

Frost Adept
Classes: warlock, wizards.
Tier: paragon.
Type: elemental
A frost adept is a champion of elemental cold, specially
chosen for strict adherence to its master’s power.
Elemental beings grant the might of ice to especially
faithful servants, such as an utterly devoted priest or a
warrior of unmatched skill.

11th: replace your paragon feature with: Resist 5 cold at 1st level, 10 cold at 11th level, 15 cold at
21st level

11th: replace your paragon feature with: body of ice

16th: replace your paragon feature with: ice master.

Lich
Classes: warlock,wizards
Tier: epic
Type: undead.

Liches are evil arcane masterminds that pursue the
path of undeath to achieve immortality. They are
cold, scheming creatures who hunger for ever-greater
power, long-forgotten knowledge, and the most terrible
of arcane secrets.

21th: replace your epic destiny feature with: Senses Darkvision, Immune disease, poison, Resist 5 + 1/2 level necrotic
Regeneration 10. If the lich takes radiant damage, its
regeneration doesn’t function on its next turn.

24th: replace your epic destiny feature with: spellmaster

26th: replace your epic destiny feature with:necromantic aura

30th: replace your epic destiny feature with: necrotic master

Savage Berserker
Classes: fighter,paladin
Tier: paragon
Type: unchanged.

A savage berserker is a brutal, vicious champion of
battle. It doesn’t need allies to succeed in combat but
draws on its own toughness and brutal strength.

11th: replace your paragon feature with: Regeneration 5 at 1st level, 10 at 11th level, 15 at 21st level

11th: replace your paragon feature with: murderous frenzy

16th: replace your paragon feature with: savage rebuke

Scion of Flame
Classes:walock,wizards
Tier: paragon
Type: elemental

A scion of flame is a champion of elemental fire, specially
chosen for its devotion to the all-consuming
flame. Elemental beings grant the blessings of fire to
especially faithful servants.

11th: replace your paragon feature with: Resist 5 fire at 1st level, 10 fire at 11th level, 15 fire at 21st level

11th: replace your paragon feature with: body of flame

16th: replace your paragon feature with: fire master

Vampire Lord
Classes: any
Tier: epic
Type: undead
Vampire lords are powerful and dangerous undead
villains. Some are former spawn freed by their creators’
deaths, others mortals chosen to receive the
“gift” of vampiric immortality. They can create armies
of dominated vampire spawn or pass on their powers
to chosen mortals.

21th: replace your epic destiny feature with: Senses Darkvision. Immune disease, poison. Resist 5 necrotic at 1st level, 10 necrotic at 11th level, 15 necrotic at 21st level. Vulnerable radiant 10
Regeneration 10 (regeneration does not function while the
vampire lord is exposed to direct sunlight)

24th: replace your epic destiny feature with: blood drain

26th: replace your epic destiny feature with: dominating gaze

30th: replace your epic destiny feature with: myst form

I was working on an adventure today and flipped to the handy toolbox. I was adding a deathmaster template to a Orcus death priest, and wondered if there were a way to add these neat templates to player characters. Thanks to you I now have a great starting point.:D

Hmm, interesting!

I've been thinking about this, too.
My conclusion was similar to yours, grubba2000. Paragon Classes are really the equivalent of a template for player characters. I don't even think it should require an additional feat in most cases.

The main problem, of course, is the matter of balancing the 'template classes' with existing Paragon classes.
