Terraclips: new life for my Dungeon Tiles

I just picked up the box of Terraclips plastic clips from my FLGS. I had stopped using my sizable collection of WotC Dungeon Tiles because the setups tend to fall apart if you look at them funny, let alone move minis around. Now I can build solid 2D and 3D structures! 120 clips for $20 is a pretty good deal, in my estimation. I sense some fun hours of structure assembly in my future. :)

ps - Would anybody like some pictures? I can be persuaded.

YES! YES! YES!

I have never heard of these things and I loves me my Dungeon Tiles (I use them all the time but I lay them on my battlemat (!) to keep slips to a minimum - even then they can be annoying).

You're using terra clips with WotC's dungeon tiles?

Interesting. I'd definitely be interested in pics. How long have you been doing it? How have the tiles and the clips held up? That's definitely not a risk I was about to take...

For those who don't know, Terraclips is a system of tiles and plastic clips. The tiles are much thinner than WotC's dungeon tiles, about as thick as a magic card, and the clips are still very, very tight on them. The Terraclips tiles also have recesses built into the sides to account for the width of the clips, allowing for more or less seamless builds.

One issue I've had with Terraclips is that they take so long to set up, especially if you want to do anything 3d. The end results are absolutely phenomenal, but it's not really something you can just throw together for a random encounter.

I just played with them for a couple of hours. Here's what I've got to show for myself.

Comments on the pics, from left to right:
1) The spiral staircase with the bridge, the tower, and the swirly blue thing is one piece, remarkably solid. It was the first thing I made.

2) The ginormous diorama of the cliffs with the waterfall that turns into a sewer is all one piece. It can be lifted safely with two hands.

3) The main floor of the villa is one piece. I've actually made it so that it snugs into place on top of the sewer walls below to avoid slippage.

4) The villa roof is one piece.

5) Put together, the whole setup of all four big pieces is quite large.

I've got a couple of terraclips sets and a stack of dungeon tiles, and even though I've mixed the two together a couple of times, it honestly never occured to me to stick the clips on the dungeon tiles!

I'm definitely going to have a try myself.

The clips that I got today are clearly intended for tiles that are only barely thinner than WotC's tiles. They fit quite nicely, and I didn't feel like I had to worry about anything breaking. The lack of recesses on my tiles makes for a gap of about 3mm between tiles. I can definitely live with it.

Have fun! :)

Terraclips themselves are awesome, and three new arts come out at gen con. The clips are built for thinner pieces than the wotc tiles, but they do work. I would be worried about leaving them on long and stretching them out, though.

I cannot recommend the complete system enough.

It's a 170' tall pagoda with five layers of differing heights. They can be separated off individually. Now that I think about it, it kind of looks like a collection of buildings when laid out like I did in the second picture.
