It's not the acting or the production values or the medium necessarily, it's the fact that these stories were not written for television and much of what makes them so funny occurs in the narrative. They seem to lovingly include every detail except for the humor. The more faithful the story is to the book, the more muted the humor becomes, until I only recognize something as a joke because I first read it in print.But, since these are new stories, maybe they can make better use of Pratchett's setting and characters. I'm very hopeful.
