It was this neglect that allowed less desirable influences to enter Drayven’s life and slowly twist his thinking in a different direction.</p><p></p><p>Leaking information here and there to his new “friends”, Drayven soon found the acceptance he had craved growing up and learned to ignore the voice in his head that told him he was betraying his family. As far as he was concerned, none of his family members were ever wounded, and his family would write the occasional loss down as Beshaba’s fickle temper.</p><p></p><p>However, as the demands grew for Drayven to give more to the guild, he began to have second thoughts and when he said he would do it no more, they simply smiled as they left, stabbing him multiple times as he walked home that night.</p><p>When he awoke, his father was alone in the room with him. Looking up and seeing for the first time concern on his father’s face, Drayven’s actions hit him all at once, and he began to confess how everything had led to this evening. His father said nothing during Drayven’s tale, but the disappoint and hurt were plain to see.</p><p></p><p>As soon as he regained his strength, Drayven’s father made arrangements for him to begin his training as a priest of Waukeen. While on the surface, it seemed to be a move in Drayven’s best interests; the real reason was that Drayven’s father could not handle betrayal by one of his sons. Taking the measure for what it was, Drayven played along with the charade and moved to the temple.</p><p></p><p>While older than most of his fellow acolytes, Drayven quickly made up for lost time as he quickly mastered the basic tenets of the faith and simple orisons. Ordained a priest two years later, Drayven was relieved to see his family attending the first mass he was allowed to give.</p><p></p><p>As news reached Athkatla that the civil war had finally came to an end in Tethyr, the church wasted no time in searching for volunteers to go into the healing land and offer Waukeen’s blessings and guidance.
