Tethyr Campaign - RW [Closed]

First Post
Life in Tethyr has changed dramatically in the last decade...there are now two equal rulers (King and Queen) of this single nation and civil war, which has rocked it's foundation for as long as many can remember....is over.

What to do now?

With the war no longer a commodity, the art of adventuring has returned to the country and many previously lost or forgotten areas in the region have been rediscovered. Similarly, for those who knew not what to do without war...other enemies had to be found. Many Lords took what wealth and troops they had and joined the Amnites in their conquest of the New World. Some took their aggressions out on the bandits, highwaymen and Giants that most certainly still plague the countryside throughout Tethyr....and still some, such as the case with your Lord, Luxor, Newly Appointed Duke of New Shanatar ("Shanatar" being the name previously associated with the Fallen Dwarven Empire in what is now Tethyr), have taken it upon themselves to spread the faith and heart of their Gods to those they deem pagan.

The First Tyrian Crusade was launched from your Duchy not two month ago with Luxor at the head of almost 10,000 fanatical Tyr faithful. His charge: March his army to Calimshan, spreading the word of (Anachtyr)Tyr while saving the people from the influences of pagan Geniedom.

He has left his nephew (currently the heir to the Duchy) in charge of his remaining Guard, ordered to increase their influence here and clear the surrounding forest of any banditry, Giants or most importantly any Genies who have invaded the sacred realm of Tyr.

How did you find yourself on this Godforsaken boat? You think to yourself, hoping you don't get sick for the 10 billionth time this voyage. Looking out into the vast blue of the Sea of Swords you look for the other ships accompanying you on this expedition.

Three ships set out from Darromar almost a week ago with you onboard, heading south with Galomir the Errant, Heir to the Duchy of New Shanatar leading the way. Galomir has become, as with many Nobles since the end of the civil war, a wandering soul. He spends his money on adventure tips and jumps at the chance to uncover forgotten treasure or save the imprisoned damsel.

His most recent "jump"? This expedition. Apparently the Lordling has caught wind of a Temple deep in the jungles of Chult that, aside from supposedly being an amazing edifice of magical architecture, is also rumored to be laden with treasures of a long dead empire.

Looking for any excuse to fill the Duchy's coffers, Galomir commissioned three ships, rounded up his loyal retainers (including you) and headed south towards the wild jungles of Chult.

So here you are, as often as not holding your head over the side of the ship, waiting for any sign of land. Your destination is Fort Akor, home of another noble of Tethyr...son of the Queen, Prince Henri of Darromir. The common story is that Henri ventured into the jungles himself looking for treasure and, following Amn's example, attempting to start a colony on the wild continent...the rumors say something completely different and mention exile.

Whichever is true, Henri has successfully established a beachhead in Chult and, if the reports can be believed, has established relations with the locals.

This ought to be interesting, to say the least.

Nym

Well, I wasn't sure how much character info you share. I am bouncing around on different ideas for this guy, and this is my current one:

Nym was born into an elven home deep in The Wealdath during the waning days of the Tethyren civil war. His mother had fell in love with a druid who had been making frequent incursions into the wood, and was slain by a band of gnolls soon after.

Nym Tealeaf looks very elven. This was fortunate because it allowed his mother Vestele to hide her sacrilege for several years. By then Nym had made enough of an impression on the tribe of Suldusk elves that he was not killed outright. But the superstition and racial bias of the majority of the tribe precluded Nym staying. The night his heritage was discovered, the eleven year old half-elven child was given a weeks worth of rations, a dagger, and a bow with 20 arrows. He was blindfolded and carried for two days to an area of the forest which he had never seen. He was then told to sit on a log and they would tell him when he could uncover his eyes. After waiting most of the day, he uncovered his eyes and realized he was utterly alone for the first time in his life.

Nym was a toug child, and this kept him alive over the next few months as he struggled to survive in the forest. He grew up very quickly, using his strength and cunning to survive in an environment far more hostile than most children his age would face. However, as winter approached, his hunting grounds became bare, and he as struggling to live. He then experienced his second bout of fortune as he was found freezing in a snow covered meadow by a band of druids. They took him in and brought him back to health.

The druids were very kind, and over time tamed Nym’s wildness somewhat. He began learning other languages than Elven, and eventually decided to follow their example and become a druid.

The druids did their best to keep out of the civil war, but eventually worked with Lord Luxor, as he had promised to renew the agreements to not put the forests near his lands to the axe or forge. Nym was a fierce warrior and budding druid, and served some in the last days of the conflict as a guide and forest scout. As part of the continuing pact between the druids of the grove near Mosstone and Lord Luxor, Nym has stayed in his service.

Sunday's game is officially on and we're ready to play (for the most part). Matt K. and Nate S. are a little rusty on the rules, so we'll have to play a little catch-up, but they're both familiar with D&D and really enjoy the game. Is everyone pretty solid on how to get to the location? Game time is at 1pm.

See you then!
