Y'know, the one with all them announcements.

Well, I only have so much real estate on to see the message board, so I'd like to know how to turn it off. Eyes ain't as good as they were years ago!

look at the top of your screen for a blue button that says user cp (for user control panel). go to edit options. Turn off the ticker.

To get it there, you presumably turned it on? (The default view is with the scrolling ticker at the top).

At any rate, in your User CP (go to the "Options" section) there are 4 themes presented. You're currently using the "Headlines on Left" theme - you need to switch to another.
