This idea for this critter came about while i was trying to say Acolyte during tonight's game. So, without further adu the Acolope. Acolope Medium-size Fey Hit Dice: 3d6 + 3 (13 hp) Initiative: +0 Speed: 30 ft AC: 13 (+3 Natural) Attacks: Gore +1 Damage: Gore 1d6 Face/Reach: 5x5/5 Special Qualities: Empathic Bond, Sense the Divine, Cloak, Cleric Spells Saves: +2/+3/+4 Abilities: Str 10, Dex 11, Con 13, Int 8, Wis 12, Cha 12 Skills: Knowledge (Religion) +3, Move Silently + 6, Spellcraft + 1, Listen +3, Spot +3 Feats: Alertness -- Climate: Any Forest Organization: Solitary Treasure: None CR: 1 Alignment: Neutral or that of Bonded Cleric Advancement: None The acolope is a strange creature. It appears to be a strange cross between an apprentice cleric and an Antelope. It has a human face and arms and the hindquarters and back of a deer-like creature. Acolopes superficially resemble Satyrs but are normally much more dour and serious than their fun-loving fellow fey. Acalopes always seem to be striving to understand great mysteries through sincere devotion to the god of their chosen cleric - though a few who devote themselves to truly hedonistic gods tend to seem much like satyrs to the uninformed. Until bonding to a cleric Acalopes are solitary creatures roaming about forests off the beaten pathways. When they finally encounter a cleric (and they will reveal their presence to no-one else) they present themselves and immediately attempt to form an empathic bond with the cleric. If the bond takes hold the cleric has a new student for life. Unfortunately it is the curse of the Acalope that they never actually perfect their god's preferred way of worship. IE if serving a song good the Acalope will always sing out of tune and if serving a martial arts god they will always stumble through the most basic kata, ect. However, their faith never wavers. Acalopes are the eternal first year recruits and can be a true trial for their patrons. Sense the Divine (Su): An unbounded Acalope can sense the distance and direction of any divine magic cast within 500 ft of the Acalope. This works even while the Acalope is asleep and will immediately waken him to pursue the cleric. Empathic Bond (Su): This ability works like the emphatic bond of a wizard’s familiar. To establish the bond the Acalope must be within 10 feet of the cleric and spend a full round action. If the cleric wishes to resist the bond the DC is 35. Success usually results in a depressed and suicidal Acalope, they most often they attempt to drown themselves in the nearest body of water. Cloak (Sp): By wrapping their cloak around themselves the Acalope becomes invisible as per the Invisibility spell cast by a 10th level sorcerer. Cleric Spells (sp): The Acalope casts spells as a first level cleric with the same domains as the cleric they have bonded to. They also gain those domains' granted powers.
