Fear of the Inquisition (Game Session) Within moments, heralded by a great flapping noise resonating through the trees, the melee was over. Darden stood leaning heavily against a tree, a javelin protruding from his chest as if it had sprouted there. The blood running down his front told otherwise, however. Kaisa barked a few orders to Miradon, and after the appropriate herbs were gathered, she quickly crushed them into a paste and reached out to apply it to Darden's wound. "Brace yourself, Dar-" A hiss erupted from behind Miradon, and he spun, casting his gaze downward. Before him stood a small creature, cloaked and hooded in black, smashing a morningstar into his knee. Yelping, Miradon angrily nocked two arrows, sending them point-blank at the creature's frame. It hissed malevolently, and side-stepped the first, batting the second out of the air with it's morningstar. Miradon's face turned to that of real fear. Kaisa, realizing what was happening, angrily dropped the paste to the ground and stepped forward, unsheathing her wicked scimitar in one swift movement. Angrily, she followed through across the creatures chest with a scream, and Miradon looked on in awe as it seperated into two jagged halves, blood gurgling forth from both. From behind, Darden was screaming. "Help! Another! Dammit - it's right here!" Turning, Kaisa and Miradon see another similar creature perched in the tree Darden was leaning against. It hissed, reaching over, and began to twist and drive the javelin in Darden's chest. Darden began to scream again, but his screaming was cut short when an arrow boiling with acid plunged into the creatures chest, sending it steaming behind the tree. Kaisa and Miradon rushed over, Kaisa grabbing up her paste and quickly, and roughly, applying it, and Miradon leaping past the tree, bending to examine the recently deceased. Darden looked at Kaisa, eyes full of fear, "That's never happened before! I don't know what those were, and you, a witch?!" "Witch? No, not I." Miradon gently lifted the cloak from the creature, and found a small, greenish creature beneath. It's face was full of sharp angles and malevolence, and it's bodily heavily tattooed - most notably, a massive red palm tattooed on it's chest. "Kaisa! Come look at this," he shouted. Miradon blinked, arching a brow, "Surely you've at least heard folk tales." "I saved your life, that will be pointless, if you allow it to escape again because of your ignorance," Kaisa steps back, narrowing her eyes at Darden. "It is outlawed in the Empire! Inquisitors will bese-" Darden fell silent, and slumped against the tree while Kaisa retrived her quarterstaff from the back of his head. She tends to the youth quickly, with Miradon's aid in applying pressure to the wound. Gradually, the bleeding subsides, a crude bandage fashioned from a strip of Kaisa's All-Favors tunic becoming tacky against the herb paste and sealing the wound.
