The Anti-Christ...

First Post
Here's the bottom line...

Rule Set: D20 Modern
Setting: Haven: City of Violence

[sblock=A little bit about Haven]Haven. Haven is like GTA, but worse. It's New York, Vegas, & sin city rolled up in one. It has nice upper class areas (Golden Heights) where the Don's live, an industrial area (Armistad) that the 'Orientals' have overrun in their multitudes, Rome Island is a warzone & general no-go area to anyone. Arcadia is like sunset strip & Freeman Hill is like a timewarp - 1950 style houses & lifestyle. One of the only places you'll see people saying hello to eachother in the city. It's like every capital city in the world rolled into one, or rather, the bad aspects of every capital city in the world, rolled into one!...[/sblock]

PC's: The 3 PC's are around level 8/9 and consist of a Gun Priest, a Neo Ninja & a Perfect Archer. They are all 'loose' members of an organisation: The Order of St. Lucian; a secretive sect of the Christian church that nobody, not even groups like the CIA & FBI know 100% that they exist. The PC's, after a short meeting with The Pope, get a new assignment. They are being sent to Haven on an assassination mission. The trouble is, they don't know the identity of the target; physically & spiritually. As far as they know it's a standard hit.

The Target: The target is none other than the Antichrist himself, but there's a twist later on.

Teutonic Knights: Like the Order of St. Lucian, they are an ancient order that has survived to the current day. Although formally disbanded by Napoleon In 1806, they continued to function underground, funding themselves with money accumulated over the past 950 years & several other discreet benifactors. They have the opposite agenda as the PC's. They need to protect 'The Target'. They know who he is and what his agenda. They are also after the relics to enhance 'The Target's' powers.

Milkbaby: Milkbaby is a psychopath doing his own thing. He surfaced 5 year's ago, or rather evidence of him surfaced 5 years ago in the form of a body - Naked, abused, tortured and most notably, crucified. The media coined the name Milkbaby after the 36th victim, like all others, was suffused with the smell of rank, sour milk... (He's a serial killer from the Haven: COV book). He is going to be my 'red herring'.

The Twist: The PC's main missions will be to acquire some artifacts: The 3 nail's of Christ, Crown of thorns (for the Anti-Christ. He need them to unlock his power, making him a direct conduit for Satan. The final step would be to use the Arc of the Covenant to open the gates of hell)etc. The Teutonic Knights will be reoccurring throughout the campaign, and will initially harass the PC's in their progress. As they get further into the campaign they'll start to uncover conflicting evidence regarding 'The Target', in that he may not be the Antichrist afterall. The pope's emmisaries will start putting more and more pressure on the PC's to hurry with the acquisition of said artifacts. Now, whether or not the PC's declare war on the Teuton's, attack, claim the last 'Holy Relics', and put down 'The Target' is not known, but either way, The Pope will arrive in Haven on a suprise visit. It's then that he reveals himself as 'The Antichrist', and that the person they have killed is none other than Mr. Big.Jr; Jesus Christ.

Battle with the Antichrist ensues. What next, I'll have to wait to see how this pans out...

I need help in tying everything together & ideas for clues to leave behind for the PC's and missions for them to undertake. I have a rough idea, but I'd like to hear yours before putting pen to paper.

Thanks,

SIN

How come all these artifacts are in one place? Answer: the Antichrist has some of them already and the Teutonic Knights are bringing him the rest.

How can the PCs get the items? Maybe there's a non-evil faction - or spy - in the Knights which tells them when and where the items are arriving. Or advises them that the Knights think McGuffin X is in location Y and they better get to it first. (Think Indiana Jones).

A simplified version from the view of the DM:

The Pope is in fact the Anti-C, but the the rest of the world is unknowing - including the PC's

The Target is Jesus, readying himself for his 'second coming'. The A/C wants him dead - enter the PC's

The teutonic knights are protectors of the faith, or more so, Jesus. They are stealing the relics for Jesus to use to open a link with God and gain 'Heavenly Powers'; much like the A/C wishes to unlock his 'Demonic Powers'.

The PC's 'think' they're the do-gooders, the pope's a do-gooder, whilst the teuton's & target appear to be enemies of the church.

So really, the Teuton's ARE a good faction. The PC's ARE good, but being tricked by evil. The Target IS good & the Pope IS evil.

Milkbaby is simply a ghost whom the PC's will most likely assume is the A/C, or closely linked to due to his MO: Crucifixion. They'll meet him a few times, give chase, but the legend that is milkbaby will survive, barely. I have other plans for him later on, but that's irrelevant to this campaign.

The artifacts:
3 nails of Christ - 2 are with a private collector (mr petersen - see below), the third is with another.
Spear of destiny - Museum exhibition.
The Ark of the Covenant - Private collector
Crown of Thorns - Private collector
Holy Grail - The Vataican (Pope)
Turin Shroud - Museum exhibition.

The first adventure I plan on doing will be an altered version of 'The Petersen Counterstrike' from Wotc's D/Load section. A highly acclaimed academic & his party guests have been taken hostage by terrorists. They are a zealous religious group demanding 10 million dollars cash, a clear escape & a relic (completely unrelated to western religions). The PC's need to rescue the hostages, neutralise the threat & secure an artifact. But the artifact 'vanishes', regardless of the adventures conclusion. The hunt for the artifacts begins...
