The Battle for The Four Islands (A Slot for Jemel if He wants it!)

This the recruitment thread for a new game I'm starting, called the Battle For the Four Islands. I have a slot reserved for Jarval and Zhure, and I would like 1-3 more people. Dedicated people.

Characters are 2nd level, with nearly any book supported. Only Humans alowed for race. 2,000gp in gear. No one item more then 800gp. Stats 31 standard Point Buy.

The Setting
The area of the world (an isolated corner of the map) in which the the game takes place consists of four islands. The technology level is a bit of a mix, some low class firearms (see below), hot air balloons also being common. with some more powerful stuff in the works. Magic (Arcane and Divine) isn't very common (but is not unheard of or very rare). Psionics is an odd "Third Option"

This game is heavily about character development, doing whatever the character wants. Heavy roleplaying is encouraged, along with awesome combat scenes (as much or as little as you want).


One Island is "The Gisen(Guy-Sen) Islands". This is an Asian style setting, Samurai's and Ninja's are common place. The clans have been united by the great Samurai Sine Tzuh to battle the other islands in this war.

Another Island is "The Relone Islands". This is the Medieval style setting. This is the standard DnD setting without elves (or other humanoid races), and a slight roll back on magic and increase on tech. These people are led by Orsion Lenincard.

The third Island "The Zuga Islands" is really many islands separated by rivers and ocean. This is the hottest island. The setting is a mix between Asian and Medieval. The people here are just as advanced as the other countries but lack organization due to the way the islands are spread out. Their leader is Syphax Kimja.

The Fourth Major island is known as "The Trism Islands". These people live on the cold islands and have a Roman/Greek style setting. They are not very active in the war and are mostly defensive. The are lead by a council of wise men.

Other Islands. There are many other islands that are infested with all kinds of monsters.

The Center Island: This island is a war zone covered in deserts, mountains, ruins, and two jungles. it is in the middle of all the action.

The artic island: A dangerous Island that is covered in snow, secrets and possibly valuable resources.

New Weapons

All firearms do piercing damage, except the arm cannon which does piercing and blud. damage.

The arm cannon is a handheld version of the mounted cannon.

Arm Cannon 3d6 20/x2 30ft Large 22lbs 300gp Note: 2 Round Realod, muzzle loader, 1 shop per load.

The Rifle is the standard millitary firearm (it is not as widely used as swords and bows though)

Rifle 2d6 20/x3 100ft Large 11lbs 225gp Note :1 round reload. 2 shots per load, Breech Loader (metal plate that slids up on the back)

The L(ong) S(hot) Rifle is a weaker but farther shooting version of the rifle.

LS Rifle 2d4 19-20/x2 150ft large 11lbs 250gp Note: 1 round reload, 2 shots per load, Breech Loader.

The pistol is a powerful but, uncommon small firearm it is also easy to conceal.

Pistol 1d8 20/x3 50ft Small 4lbs 200gp Note: 1 round reload, 1 shot perload, Muzzle Loader.

Tnt is the grenade and demolition weapon of this world.

TNT 2d4 5' blast radius 15 ft small 50gp a stick. +1d4 damage per extra stick. Note: Fuses can be set to explode in 1 round, 2 rounds, or 3 rounds. Longer fuses will be need to be made. No prof. needed to use.

Ammo is as follows

Rifle and LS Rifle 20gp for a pack of 10
Arm Cannon 15gp for a pack of 3
Pistol 5gp for 2.

Parachutes can be bought for 40gp a piece.

New Feats

Firearm Prof [General, Fighter]
You can shoot firearms with no penalty.

Ballon Pilot[General]
You can pilot hotair ballons.

Also I want a 4 paragrah to a page background. Including How and Why you are stranded on the Artic Island (where the game starts)

ohhhh, this sounds great. it will take me a while to come up with a character with all these options but i am definetily interested. what alignment should we be?

Perhaps I could join, as a druid attempting to preserve some of the old ways in the face of an ever evolving world.

I was wondering, perhaps I could convince you to let me play a homebrew class (yes, 20 level base character class). It is based on the main character, ryu, of Breath of Fire 3. It effectively counts as a character class 2 levels higher (maybe I could still start at 2nd level in the class, but I would need enough experience to effectively need enough exp. to get to 5th to gain a level). Well, you don't have to say yes, and I am quite fine with playing a druid, but if you are interested then I can email you a copy of the class.

You imply that magic is restricted. Do you have clarification?
One of these days I may actually play a magic user, and I'd need to know such limitations before I made a choice. [I'm usually a fighter junkie]

Jarval reporting in! I've posted my character over in the Rogues Gallery thread, but I've got a question.

Would it be OK if I bought a Mithral Shirt? It costs 1,100 gp, which is over the 800 gp limit, so I thought I'd better check.


buzzard, I think that magic is rare, rather than restricted. As far as I know, magic works the same as ever, rules wise, there just aren't many wizards or sorcerers.
