The birthday haul...

Asmor

First Post
Friday was my 25th birthday, and I "invested" a chunk of the money I received into games.

From Amazon, I got Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 3rd Edition, something I've been lusting over since playing the demo and would not have otherwise been able to justify the price...

From Tanga, I got a game called Prince of Chaos: Battle for Tae Orn. It's not the sort of thing I'd usually be interested in, but the price ($8 + shipping) was low enough that I'm willing to try something new.

And then I put a big order in at Thoughthammer for...

Chaos in the Old World I actually just added this belatedly to the order. It was the original reason I decided to shop at Thoughthammer, but it didn't end up making the cut. But then I decided to plunge in anyways, since I likely wouldn't get another chance to give it a try.

Batt'l Kha'os Annoying name aside, this game looks like it could be interesting. I always feel a little guilty about buying 2 player games since I rarely get to play them, but this was cheap and

Cleopatra and the Society of Architects This game first appeared on my radar a long time ago when Days of Wonder had a promo where you'd get it for free with a $50 order. Unfortunately, they ran out by the time I got the "ok" to make the order. :/ But thoughthammer had it on clearance...

Saboteur I seem to have an affection for games with hidden roles, e.g. Werewolf, BSG (the only coop game I like), Are You the Traitor... This game is cheap and looks interesting, so I tossed it in there as well.

Arcana Hadn't heard of this game, just found it while looking for things to bring my order above the $100 free shipping threshhold. I read some reviews of it and it sounded interesting enough. Since reading about the pushed-back-to-2010 Thunderstone, I've been wanting a new game with a similar mechanic to Dominion and this hit that spot nicely and at a nice price point.

Dice Town Something about this game makes me think it might appeal to casual or non-gamers, and I can always use more games with that quality. Nice aesthetics, interesting concept, and finally a use for poker dice!

Last, and in fact least, the two currently-available expansions for Small World, Grand Dames and Cursed. I feel that these were both a bit more expensive than I'd like to pay, given what you get, but Small World is a game that I do get to play more than many other games, so if the additions make that more interesting then I suppose they are a good investment.

Happy Birthday!

I've played Chaos in the Old World, and it's a nice game.

Cleopatra likewise - although you should never play it with someone whose idea of "winning" is to get fed to the crocodiles! ;)

Cheers!
