The Character Concept Thread

Hope this is the right Forum....

I'm pretty sure this has been done before, but I haven't seen it in a while, so I guess I'll give it another shot.

Let's brainstorm! Name a class or prestige class (or some combination thereof) and come up with an interesting character concept that fits it. This should help players as well as DMs (coming up with fun NPCs isn't easy). I'll get things started...

All things are finite and transient, eventually everything, even magic items, wear out. It is best to live without attachment, so all you ever carry are a quaterstaff, some rations, and your clothing, all of which are often replaced, even if still in usable condition.

However, to make up for the addiction to special/magical equipment that all characters have in a "normal" campaign you have something else.

You take a full share of the party's treasure hauls, but give it away to charity or the church every time. However, sometimes at night, as you sleep you have dreams, these dreams almost always carry a message or a quest, but when you awaken you have a new tatoo or mark on your body which grants you a special power on par with any given magic item.

Basically, this allows you to have magic items without having magic ITEMS. Of course it's similar to the tatooed monk PrC, but I don't know enough about that one, and this is done with a different mechanic.

You grew up in an area where magic was regarded as myth. For one reason or another, there were no magical resources at all in your hometown, save for several old tomes mentioning the occaissional exploit of a magician. From these, you have learned how wizards tend to dress and behave. You have learned much about crafting your own alchemical substances, acting the part of the wizard, and you have even trained a hawk to follow you as your "familiar." You carry around old and dusty tomes, filled with complete gibberish in strange script. As far as you know though, you are as much a wizard as anyone else- of course, once your opponents start tossing around real power you may question a few things...
