The Chaser's War on Gary Gygax

Not as bad as it sounds. The Chaser's War on Everything is an enormously popular comedy program in Australia. For its website, the writers could have gone for a cheap, predictable poke at socially retarded gaming nerds, but instead they penned a funny and respectful article.

The Chaser's guys are some of the funniest guys on Australian TV at the moment (I'm sure many people heard of their Osama Bin Laden OPEC stunt last year). While I found their article quite funny, I can't help but think that it is still too soon to be cracking jokes about it.

Olaf the Stout

Edit: I found the article funny and laughed at several of the jokes. However, I felt wrong in doing so, considing that Gary only died a week ago. I'm a little torn on this one. :(

Chuckle worthy. And I think has a real sense of affection. Anyone who caught their eulogy song would know that they don't pull punches if they don't want to.

I thought the Mord remark was great. That is pretty much how I picture any nerd story or metagamer.

You can tell this is humor and not meant as disrespect but instead as homage. I never heard a nerd write about another nerd with such passion :D :p

Ha, the Chasers are more geeky than I thought.
I seem to remember that in the early, pre-CWoE days (when they were still ripping off articles from The Onion), one of the team had "writing articles for gaming mags" among his credits. I haven't checked recently, but it might be gone, considering that the site is now frequented by young, possibly attractive women, and not just political humour geeks (such as myself).
