Hello!

Just dropping in to give everyone an update on The City of Brass Kickstarter.

We have passed our funding target and are now moving towards the first of our stretch goals, which is inputting Pathfinder stock rules. If you haven't taken a look at us yet, I hope you'll think about it.

Here's our Kickstarter page: https://www.kickstarter.com/project.../the-city-of-brass-web-based-tabletop-rpg-app

A little about The City of Brass:

  • The City of Brass is a web-based application for managing tabletop RPGs.
  • The system is game-agnostic and can support all the RPGs you play.
  • It is also a native web-application that runs on any device (phone, tablet, phone, Mac, PC, etc.) - all you need is a browser and an internet connection.

The City of Brass includes four key areas:

  • Entity Builder is a flexible system for creating and managing all your Characters as well as NPCs and Monsters.
  • Story Builder is meant for the GM and allows you to easily build your adventures, manage the relationships between encounters, and interlink with characters, worlds, etc.
  • World Builder is for creating game settings and makes doing so easy. You can see some examples of settings created with World Builder here.
  • Campaign Manager brings players and GMs together in a shared space where you can post up game recaps, character sheets, house rules, and other elements.

A few common questions include:

  • How much does it cost?
    • We're not live yet, and haven't finalized our pricing, but during our Kickstarter you can get up to 3 years of access to The City of Brass for $24 a year. Everyone will be given 30 days, free of charge, to evaluate The City of Brass before we ask you to pay for anything.
  • Does everyone need to have access?
    • Yes. To enable us to bring you this service at the lowest possible subscription cost, everyone (players and GMs) will need an account to use The City of Brass. It is not necessary for everyone in a gaming group to use the system, however, and both players and GMs will find lots of awesome features even if they're the only one using The City of Brass at their table.
  • Is this a virtual tabletop?
    • No. Our focus is on characters, adventures, settings, and campaigns. We are not replacing your miniature board or favorite virtual tabletop.
  • Can I export my data?
    • Not at this time. This is something we intend to support but if it's a deal-breaker for you, The City of Brass might not be a good fit.
  • How is this different than <other system>?
    • Our product overlaps in places with others, but we have focused on some key areas that include:
      • Accessibility: You can use The City of Brass on any device you have. We have people that use their phones, others prefer tablets, and still others computers. It simply doesn't matter.
      • Flexibility: Every effort has been made to give you control in The City of Brass. You can play any game you want, you can make up your own game and use The City of Brass for it. You can create house rules, load up existing rules. Whatever you need.
      • Simplicity: The system is quick to learn and easy to use. You don't have to have any experience with web pages to create some beautiful pages for yourself and your group in The City of Brass.
