Woe stares lustfully at the intimate display with his mouth wide-open, just barely managing to retain any measure of focus on nearby foes. Then he catches sight of Tander go down. “I spy with my little Eye, something that begins with the letter I,” he chirps and dives into an acrobatic roll between the orc and the gravehound. As in, getting himself flanked. “No, not infidels, pig-face. Incisions!” Woe unleashes a low thrust at the orc’s abdomen then snaps his spear back swiftly and bashes its haft into the jaw of the beast on his opposite side. “Bad doggie, bad!” The merc swirls around and smashes his shield upside the undead hound’s head, shoving it well away from Tander. “Stay! Roll over, while you’re at it! Play dead!” Woe pauses and considers the redundancy of his last order. “…Oh yeah. Good job, boy!” [sblock=Actions & Tactics]Woe uses a minor action to stare and fantasize, then moves with Pass Forward to C4 without provoking OA. He attacks the orc with Cleave, hitting AC 22 for 11 damage to the orc and 4 damage to the hound. He then spends an action point to attack the dog with Tide of Iron, hitting AC 17 for 8 damage and pushing it into C6 without following in its wake. This one was a tough call to make – why did Woe get himself flanked? Initially it seemed more prudent to flank and attack the orc for the sake of exploiting Combat Advantage and defending Atreus. Then again, Tander literally is at the feet of his own aggressor – being a ranged combatant with only one action due to dazed means he can’t avoid an OA. So since both Atreus and Tander are in trouble, I tried to protect them both by marking both their assailants. I could have shifted after the dog to interpose myself between it and Tander, but then I would have left the orc open to attack Atreus – this way I retain the opportunity for a Combat Challenge attack. Yeah, Grasping Shadows isn’t affected by concealment – that would also mean Arnest got further damaged and slowed if he insists on standing alongside the snake lady (which he probably wouldn’t have done now, though). Now that we’re at it, Woe isn’t slowed anymore and Palindrome shouldn’t have a failed death save anymore, either.
