The Cost of a House

Does anyone know if there is a price list for things like houses, manors mansions, etc for 4th edition anywhere?

In particular, I'm looking for the price of a large manor house.

I haven't seen anything for buildings. The closest anything seems to come to that, is vehicles, and they're quite expensive for what they are.

Might I suggest that you make a building an adventure award? That way cost is largely immaterial. You could even have grateful villagers repair the place for them.

Figures. I haven't been keeping up with my Dragon/Dungeon reading, since they stopped compiling the articles into a single download.

I don't blame you - that was a pretty annoying change. I've been saving all the articles in separate issue subfolders within my Dragon and Dungeon folders (along with the art & maps), but Boccob help me if I'll be able to find the errata on those issues.

Dragon said 25,000gp for a very basic castle, as I recall.

If you think of 1gp as $100 you should have something reasonable. I tend to start with 100gp for a basic peasant's cottage in a village, 5000gp for a nice villa in town.

As any estate agent will tell you, there are three main factors in a house's price: Location, Location, and Location. It would be possible to say how much a generic house costs in a certain ward in Sigil or Sharn. But as for the cost of a generic manor house, think of the difference in cost between the more rural areas of America and the centre of London or NY.

Yeah, my wife & I were just reading about a celebrity selling her vast $2.5 million dollar Beverly Hills mansion; the tabloid was drooling over its palatial furnishings.

I commented that $2.5 million is about £1.3 million, or about £0.4 million more than the very mundane 3-bedroom terraced houses we have been looking at in suburban Wimbledon. :.-(

Yeah it's 25k gold for 300 spaces. Which 300 spaces is not alot. A good size inn is more than 300 spaces and not worth 25k. I would say 25k silver or 2500 gold.
