I thought it'd be fun to try and translate the Buffy setting to the d20 Modern rules (yes, I know, I've read Shadow Chasers...). I thought I'd kick it off with my attempt at a Vampire Slayer template: VAMPIRE SLAYER "Vampire Slayer" is a template that can be added only to young (between 14-20 for humans) female humanoids (referred to hereafter as the "base creature"). It uses all the base creatures statistics and special abilities except as noted here. There is only one Slayer on a world at any time (baring exceptional circumstances). When the current Slayer dies, the template is immediately applied to a randomly selected Slayer-in-waiting. Hit Dice: Same as base creature. Speed: Add +10 to the base creature's Speed score. Defense: The base creature gains a +4 dodge bonus to AC. Attacks: Same as the base creature. Damage: Same as the base creature. Special Qualities: Low-light vision (Ex): The base creature gains low-light vision if it does not already possess it. Improved Healing (Ex): Slayers heal at seven times the normal rate. So, they heal their levelx7 in Hit Points every day. Jumping (Ex): The Slayer starts with +8 to the Jump skill. The base creature is also treated as one size catagory larger than it's actual size for determining maximum hight attanable height. Sense Demons (Su): The Slayer may take the exclusive skill Sense Demons. This skill cannot be used untrained (so that's why Buffy can't use it), and is considered a class skill for the Slayer. A skill check can be made to see if any Demons are close. Example DCs are: Sense vampire in sight: DC 10. Sense vampire within 25' + 5'/2 levels, but not in sight: DC 20. Sense non-vampire demon in sight (that's not obviously a demon): DC 15. Sense non-vampire demon within 25' + 5'/2 levels, but not in sight: DC 25. Ability Scores: Increase from the base creature as follows: +8 Strength, +8 Dexterity, +8 Constitution.
