Feys are interesting creatures of myth, and I like to read stories about them, but I also find them depressing. In sense that I don't like to use them in rpg-games. Sometimes they make good match for horror themed games with bit slice of sadness, loss and evil in clothes of innocent. Myth, songs, opera and poets with fey are usually stories that end badly. Anyhow modern takes on fey can be found at Books of Magic comics, Dresnan Chronicles books and computer game Kingdoms of Amular (sp?) - the Reckoning to name a few. True Blood tv-series 2nd season had fey-esque main baddie/storylines. Latest season has more feys. And main character has fey-blood. Anna Rice had certain take of fey in her Withching Hour and following books. Some horror stories borrow onto old sources. There are quite a many, really. Promethea comics by Moore have Immateria. There are "Grim Fairy Tales" series, though IMO first books are better and then it kinda gets not so good. There is really lot of new evolved idea to borrow from, if you don't want to do it oldie myth way. I created modern "horror" world (our kinda) with creepy hard so explain quicly mythos. Basic idea is that these "anomalities" are danger to lonely and different and "society" is safety network that keeps us safe from them. But problem was that with modern culture acualy "society" is crumpling. People are alone in big cities, family contacts are cut/less important and no-one really believes into monsters/gods anymore. It's very fey-story-esque.
