While I was talking to him, he indicated that he never granted the UK subsiduary of TSR perpetual rights to any of the creatures that he created (slaadi, githyanki, githzerai, and death knight). However, it it possible that WoTC may not actually own the copyright to some of the creatures that they claim as Product Identity unless they have entered into a seperate licensing agreement with the original author. I wouldn't want to be the one to test that theory in court though <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f642.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":)" title="Smile    :)"  data-smilie="1"data-shortname=":)" /> It would be interesting to know the legal status of the other third-party contributions to D&D canon from the Fiend Folio if the contracts didn't grant TSR perpetual rights to them, although this probably isn't a can of worms that anybody wants to open.</blockquote>
