Seems like this whole thing is being blow out of proportion. The DM should have talked with the player in quesiton up front before anything happened in game etc. The player might have went along if in the loop. I think the part that burnt the player up was he/she was cut out of the loop and all the decisions regarding this matter and his character, were made without any input from him.I wouldn't like that either and I would nicely make it clear this wasn't ok with you to the DM and the other players. DM's like players do stupid things on occassion because, "...at the time it seemed like a good idea..." However, if I played with a group I like and I enjoyed the DM in other adventures etc before this, I wouldn't be too quick to blow the bridges up to make a major issue out of this. On similar note, I had a PC that got killed left behind by his adventure party. One PC returned to retrive him with another group of characters and got him raised. My PC refuses to have anything to do with his old group because he feels he was treated very badly. The other players didn't think this would occur and were apologetic etc. No need for be to "mess up the game" I just rolled up another PC for that group. My other PC plays in another group now and excellent friends with the one arranged his rescue. Everyone in my group is good friends and we're not going to let any sort of game related thing effect that. I think a new character would be a very good idea at this point and I would turn the current one over to the DM if your sure you don't want to play him/her anymore.
