The author seemed to be someone who had played Third Edition too, or was at least familiar with it. I think this does go to show that EGG had a broad impact.

I thought the Economist was the last thing where I would see an obituary for Gary Gygax so I was even happier to see this when I bought it on Friday.

I wish someone out there would have compiled a list of characters that appeared as part of news articles related to Gary Gygax's passing. I think it would be interesting since if the article was written in a positive light then its obvious that that character was played by the article's author (or an NPC that appeared in the game).

That was a really good obit. Probably the most thoroughly researched, and very respectful (although, to be fair, all of the obits that I've seen have been so).
