Tyranny Games says The End is at the printer!!
Here is their press release and some expansions are listed...

(Wauwatosa, WI, April 23, 2002)- Tyranny Games is pleased to report that The End: Lost Souls Edition (d20) has finally been sent to print (God help them). Although we are unable to give a firm release date, we expect The End to be available in a couple of weeks. Please contact your local store and order now as the deluxe faux leather cover version of The End is a limited edition ($29.99 retail). Also, watch the signs for our upcoming The End
product line releases: The Boston Massacre (June), The Dogs of War: The Washington D.C. Sourcebook (August), Salvation’s Tears (August), and The Dark Arts (October).

We appreciate the patience of our many fans over this last month while we dealt with a production delay that focused on our faux leather cover. The End received rave reviews at the GAMA convention for its striking artwork and photography, realistic firearm system and unique base class approach to d20, and we realize that it is eagerly awaited. After seeing the proof, we
are very excited with the look and feel of the upcoming base rulebook. Its black and gold foil stamped and embossed faux leather cover provides that “end times Preacher book” feel that emphasizes the stark and bleak nature of the post The End apocalyptic setting. With over 300 pages of material, fans
will not be disappointed with the source material. Scavenge the old world or build a new empire! Establish a new colony or join those seeking to destroy man forever! Embrace the magic of the Savage Gods or preach the Word. The possibilities are, well, endless! Survive The End or rule it. Your choice...just like Before.

The original The End was known for its groundbreaking role as the first post-apocalypse role-playing game based on the Book of Revelations. It received critical acclaim for its bleak setting and creative background material. The End promises to challenge the d20 system conventions with 300+ faux leather bound pages of realistic injury effects, achievement-base experience, and a single starting class: the Meek. The class levels for the Meek reflect experience gained through surviving and overcoming the horrors
and madness posed by the world after the biblical apocalypse. Please visit The End’s portion of the Tyranny Games website (www.tyrannygames.com) and check out our preview art, message board, and fiction over the next few months. Tyranny Games will be posting passages from the new source material
and other interesting notes. The End is scheduled for a late March release.
Order the limited edition from your local retailer now!

I am glad the wait will be over. This setting sounds like a great addition to the d20 settingscape. I am especially looking forward to their Medical Feats and Firearms system.

I wonder how serious this RPG will be. To me, it would be much cooler if it reproduced the 'End Times' movie genre feel.

You know, bad acting, even worse special effects, washed up stars, little or no resemblance to actual christianity. They're a hoot.

Examples:

http://www.armageddonbooks.com/movie.html

"What everybody's been waiting for! The biggest Christian fiction series of all time is now a major motion picture, with Kirk Cameron in the lead as TV reporter Buck Williams. See the end-times action unfold as Buck and the other post-rapture believers confront the evil schemes of Nicolae Carpathia. The unexpected ending will blow you away"

Mr. T made several of them as well, though I can't seem to find them for sale any more.

No, wait. Here's one

"In the heat of the courtroom,"L.A. Law's" Arnie Becker (Bernsen) is defending God Himself against charges brought by the world's self-proclaimed messiah, portrayed by Nick Mancuso. It's the biggest trial in history, and things will never be the same, once the renegade group of resistance fighters called "The Haters" led by J.T. Quincy (Mr. T) decide it's time to take action.

I assume it will be as serious as the original, which is pretty serious. Not sure if it is as serious as Rapture, but it doesn't remind me of bad end times movies, and that's a good thing. I think, if you want to run that kind of game, you probably will be able to do it, but I'd prefer the book to not take that appraoch.
Speaking of Rapture, anyone do a d20 of it yet?

In response to trancejeremy:

The original The End was so serious it was banned from Gen Con. I have it on good authority that this version follows the original very closely, except for the addition of new material and the d20 material.

I hope you like it.

The setting is very dark in many respects- after all the characters have been abandoned by God is a crumbling, devastated world, stalked by supernatural creatures and other desperate human beings-- but also has some heroic aspects- rebuilding humanity, establishing trade, fighting off the subtle horror of the horsemen.

Thanks for the Support

Hey, thanks for the support and interest folks. The End is currently at the printer (true) and should be available soon. Whether you play a Mad Max, Stand, or Horror style of campaign, I hope all of you enjoy it. Email me (or post here) if there are any particulars you would like to see in the Boston, DC, or Dark Arts sourcebooks.

Seriously, while I probably would have preferred a campy version, a serious version is pretty cool, too. Definitely on my to buy list (which unfortuantely keeps getting longer and longer...)
