So, watched this over the long weekend and really liked it.
There are some new characters and changes to account for modern times, but I felt it manages to stay true to the spirit of the comic. If anything, I like that the TV series shows a more nuanced response of people to the catastrophe, rather than the almost universal "every men for themselves" of the original story.
First season stops around halfway the comic, at one of the big reveals. Netflix has apparently greenlighted season 2, which I think will require some more drastic changes. I don't feel modern audiences will be on board with some of the original plot resolution devices.
