The Future of Dusk

Michael Morris

First Post
This is what I have planned for the setting after having a very long time to think on it.

1. The Setting will remain at ENWorld
I'm not going to take anything down. I'm not going to move it. I am going to seek a state of closure for myself though.

2. The Drafts will be uploaded.
When I get a chance I will upload the multiple drafts I have that have information not currently on the site that might be of interest to folks. Doing this will leave an unpolished feel to the site, but maybe some painfully obvious loose ends will encourage others to look at the thing.

3. The SRD will be completed.
I will complete the SRD of the setting's materials - namely the spell conversions.

These projects will be the last ones I will plan to lead for awhile that are directly connected to Dusk. I do have other writing projects underway and hope to remain a contributing member of the online d20 community in some form. Thank you for your time. Special thanks to Russ for his patience with me.

What is Dusk?

Dusk is a D&D campaign setting authored by Michael that, iirc, incorporates elements (no pun intended) of the Magic: The Gathering card game mana magic system. Though I never used much of the material in a game since I play standard Greyhawk when I DM, it was very well put together and really interesting to read.

Michael, I'm sad to see your work on the setting come to an end, but it's nice to know the material will be around for future enjoyment by others. Who knows, maybe someone else will get inspired and pick up the torch where you left off. Good luck with your new projects.

:(

I love Dusk, and I'm sorry to see it go... but I'm looking forward to seeing the drafts.

So, what's next for Michael Morris? Going to tell us anything about your upcoming projects?

The setting isn't going anywhere per se, I'm just not going to work on it, for awhile. At some point in the future I will work on it again.

My current project is a book titled Role & Rule. Best described as everything the Hero Builder's Guidebook should've been and wasn't, I'm hoping to get it published ESD through Natural d20 press.

I met up with Ed Greenwood at Gencon and sung two songs I had wrote for the Realms to him, both of which where well received. I promised to get a CD of the music done by next GC, and that could take a few months by itself. But it will be fun, so I'm not complaining.

Wizards should put out a couple cd's of D&D music. Some nice ballards from across the Forgotten Realms would be a fitting thing to listen to on the way to school or work, or while slaying the local orc population :)

The Hero Builder's Guidebook, at least for an experienced player, was a waste of paper. But I'll buy Role & Rule in a heartbeat.

As for Dusk... would you be willing to take on outside contributions to the setting... such as a fleshed-out city, or an adventure module?

Thanks for the vote of confidence, I'll try not to dissappoint - but the book will take awhile to complete.

Yes, always have. I don't have time to edit or coordinate anything at present though, what with 80 hours driving every week, and no internet connection for most of the time.

I’m working on some campaign revisions of BPAA, as well, though I host my game on my own site. I am within a week of revealing a new design for the web pages, followed by a revised Background, Night Hag Family Tree, adding 3e stats to a few of my beasties, and more.

There needs to be a name, for folks who not only DM their games online, but also manage the campaign’s website, work on their own web designs and graphics, add new 3e/d20 content, and more. My vote for such a name would be “insane”.

I also play keyboard and plan to add a few aquatic melodies to my website. I am currently working on a song written entirely in kuo-toan. Go ahead, chant “Blipdoolpoolp” for 30 minutes. It ends up sounding like a song. A song sung by a drowning man, perhaps, but a song nonetheless. ;)

I do not suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.
