The Great Character Collection Project!!

I'm sick of this....

My buddy and I got together over the weekend. The other members of our usuel group couldn't be there, so we sat bored wondering what to do.

I had a serious D&D itch that needed scratching, so I suggested we run some quickly generated characters through what we refer to as a "head bashing session".

A head bashing session is what we call "playtesting". We just run the characters through a kind of random dungeon and kill stuff. Such things are great for familiarizing yourself with the rules and keeping your skills sharp. Good to kill time too. ;)

Anyway, it has become painfully clear that it's not possible to "quickly" generate a functional and efficient 1st level character. Higher level characters are even worse!

So I decided that the free time I had at work this week would be devoted to character creation. Dozens of characters of levels 1, 3, 6, and 9 with different races and class mixes.

Well, as I soon discovered, that is a HELL OF A LOT OF WORK!

So, I'm looking for volunteers to help out with the project. The character will eventually be stores on an actual character sheet and, with the exception of background, will be fully stated and fleshed out.

What I need are folks to pick a character and stat him out.

Use the following ability scores for characters:

Ability Scores:
16
14
13
12
10
8

Hit Points: 50% of max hit die + 1 + Con bonus (Max 1st lvl)
Example: Ftr 3rd level, 14 Con = 12 + (8 x 2) = 28

Standard wealth:

1st - 75% of max starting gold
3rd - 2,700gp (give or take 100gp)
6th - 13,000gp (give or take 300gp)
9th - 36,000gp (give or take 800gp)

I haven't been counting every copper, but I try to keep it real close to the above amounts.

Sources: 3.5 Core only.

I suppose the best way to do it would be to post whatever character you are interested in doing, and then set to work on him. Once the character is done, edit your initial post where you "claimed" the character and insert the stats.

Once I get your write-up, in whatever format you choose to posto it in (doesn't have to be an official stat block), I'll convert it to the Word character sheet and then convert it to PDF.

Make sure you use the DM Guide for character wealth and make sure the character is 3.5 ready. I'm not looking for min-maxed characters, just something that looks like the typical character of that race, class and level and would be appropriete for playtesting.

Once they are all done, we can either find a place to store them online or I can email them out to those who contributed. Also, you don't have to stick to my list. Any character not too bizaar is welcome.

Multiclass characters are ok, and in fact, are probably necessary for some of the Prestige Class builds. Up to 9th level is all I'm worried about for now. If this takes off, I'd like to go higher and stat every level in which you get a feat for character level.

Anyone interested or am I the only one crazy enough to want dozens of pregenerated PCs. :)

I've attached a sample of a finished character.

No offense, but I think anything above level 1 is something of a waste to stat out, since so many people multiclass.

Not to mention, there's no back-story which makes the character, and it's within such narrow guidelines that you've come up with....

I don't really see the 'project' being of much actual use, other than something someone might have fun doing.

edit: I just saw the remark about multiclassing. Eh.
how much could you use Enemies & Allies to help you out?

I think you missed the point Reaper. They aren't meant to be used as a replacement for normal self-built custom PCs. (Though I suppose they could be if you were so inclined.)

They would be great for NPCs, especially now with the rather sparse NPC table in the new DMG.

They'd also be good whenever you just needed a character to playtest a rule with. Basically, any time you need a character real quick you could whip these guys out.

Character get killed? Just grab one of these guys, make a change or two, and you are ready to go.

Like I was saying above, my group would use them for one shots where the game is little more than a hack-fest. Those are fun to just mess around with.

I'm going with a generic type assassin, but I'll try to post a ranger-based version.
