Wanna know how you feel.

I think a leak of the core books wont be very damaging, you can get the set for under 60 US and I cant imagine people playing with some crappy printouts. Also: they would have been avail. anyways, only later and in lower quality.

More worrisome is the leaking of books like the campaign settings or the upcoming "complete martial" (forgot what its called). Those are the types of books you may not really feel the need to own, just browse for anything that might help your character.

Clearly an A$%&*le. He leaked early, screwing up the ramp-up in promos right at its highest time. He leaked the worst possible thing to leak. Clearly not good behavior.

There is no option in your poll for "employee doing his job."

I suspect the leak was from someone in marketing at WotC, delivering a leak to generate buzz around the product. Also, I suspect that the leak will generate sales rather than abort them.

I can only speak from personal experience, but I've posted (mostly on Paizo) my general disdain for 4th edition. I'm leery of the changes. However, having now seen the PHB for 4th, I can see that it's very well organized, and has a playable game that isn't too annoying (also not too compelling, but for me that assessment is better than I expected). Pre-preview of the book, my expectation was "buy it never." Post-preview of the book, my expectation is "buy it within the first month."

Perhaps I'm rare, but I suspect there are other grumps like me, and we're swayed by having our doubts shattered a little bit. The leak converted me. I suggest this is a strategy by WotC.

No. Well no to the actual WotC planning this. Probably yes to this improving sales.

Lolwut?

I pre-ordered my copies of the books before they even had covers. I've been waiting for a very long time to see the content of the new system.

Knowing whats in the books only makes me want the Hard copies even more. I can't wait till my books are delivered!

Oh yes.

@topic: Douchebag who has violated a NDA and showed a bad work ethic. Either he cheated on his employer or contractor in some way. Or hadn't a NDA and has stolen the files. So either a contract violator or a thief. Neither is very heroic.

Cheers, LT.

Douchebag seems closest.

Whoever he is, he's a thief who should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law so that future employers will know that he cannot be trusted with proprietary information. People like this make me physically ill.
