Calithil Manor - Master Suite As Zinnelis pulls back the curtains of the bed, Theia's detect magic spell takes effect. Her eyes are immediately drawn to runes on the floor that only her magic-enhanced sight can make out. It is a massive runic circle that covers the entire floor of the room, so intricate that it must've taken days or weeks to create. Some of the symbols seem familiar, but the majority are foreign to her. There is no doubt in her mind that this is the nexus of the necromantic energy that suffuses the manor. As Theia continues to study the writing, Zinnelis is surprised to find a figure lying in the aged bed. It appears to be an elven woman in her twenties. Her skin is extremely pale, and there are dark circles beneath her eyes. Her overall appearance is of one suffering from long sickness. As near as he can tell she isn't breathing. There is something distinctly familiar about her, but Zinnelis can't quite place it. As Aelspeth finishes a runic circle of her own and her spell takes effect the air around her practically crackles. The feeling of negative energy pushing against her spell takes her breath away. There is an enormous power in the room, and not of the pleasant variety. [sblock=Spellcraft - Theia (DC 25)] After taking a moment to think about the combinations of runes traced on the floor, Theia is able to piece together the circle's function. It is a powerful spell designed to preserve a person on the absolute verge of death. Though a combination of a modified form of a Repose spell and an even more unorthodox soul trapping spell the individual is left neither alive nor dead. As to why someone would do this, that is left up to her imagination. [/sblock] [sblock=Intelligence Check - Zinnelis (DC 8)] It hits Zinnelis why the woman looks familiar. She is one of the two people depicted in the painting in the great room. No doubt that makes her the lady of the manor. [/sblock]
