The Illusionist (no spoilers)

I saw The Illusionist last night. It's a very good movie. The effects are subdued, and not flashy, but fit the movie perfectly. The story is good, the performances are well done.

The movie really does the little details well. It's a movie that I enjoyed in the theatre, but as I've been thinking about it all day, I realize more and more how much I liked it.

It's best seen without knowing any details. Just trust this random internet reviewer and walk into it blind, and enjoy it as it unfolds.

It's kind of weird. I wasn't blown away by the movie, but I'm slowly realizing that it may have been the best film I've seen all year. Now that's a trick worthy of the Illusionist. :)

Saw it on Sunday.

The ending was tied up a little too neatly for my tastes. It was like.... why bother going through all that trouble once the first event happened? [sblock]I have a few theories, but the whole 'fake' magic vs 'real' magic at the end kinda made me scratch my head.[/sblock]

No spoilers in the title means no spoilers in the thread please Joe - and following the lead from the first post, I'd suggest that means not even the bit I've put in sblocks for you.

Thanks - PS
