I'd have to disagree with that. If you are captured the enemy does not really need to use your own weapons against you, as you have already been removed as a threat. On the other hand, if you were killed or simply knocked unconcious, your fellow party members would not be able to utilize your equipment because it has the alignment restriction, unless you are adventuring in a party of nothing but Paladins. ;) Your fellow party members will also find it harder to sell the item because of the heavy restrictions on it, as few want a weapon they can use only when they remain with the same philosophical beliefs they have had their whole life, with no option for change. I really disagree that it should cost the same as any other weapon, and I completely and totally disagree that it should cost more. YMMV, but I think that putting alignment restrictions on an item is more of a penalty than a bonus. Well, how do you know that destroying it will send the souls to Meph? Perhaps it will free them to go on to their just reward. Of course we don't know, but at our party level that shouldn't be a problem. Just ask Festys character to cast Commune and ask if destroying the Helmed Horror would send the souls to Meph, and if not, where exactly would they go. If it's revealed that they would be freed to go on to their just reward, I think the Helmed Horror should be destroyed. If not, we'll try and help you free them, of course, but I think we should at least find out first if destroying it now will free your families souls before deciding on a course of action.
