I really love Wolfe's Book of the New Sun series. I also enjoyed his Book of the Long Sun series and his Larto books, although not quite as much. I will hold off for a moment on The Knight strictly for one reason -- an unreasoning "willies factor" concerning people whisked out of their own (modern, real-Earth) world into another one (fantasy). The only book(s) where I really liked this (other than Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, but that's kind of a special case), were Kay's Fionvar Tapestry trilogy.
OTOH, I feel safer with Wolfe doing this than most others -- I am just waiting for some specific people in my closer circle to comment before I buy it
