The Lead Up..

I'm interested in your stories. At what point did all of those early adventures suddenly make sense? Which point did you drop the bomb on the PC's, in such a way that engaged them - generally midway through the campaign - that suddenly made them all go 'Whoa!' and engage like you had never seen them engage before?

I was recently playing an Ars Magica game where a certain player was a Guernicus, or basically a judge. However, his backstory was that he had actually joined a group of extremists who live by the motto that "Corruption causes justice to appear as insanity.", and felt they needed to change the political landscape of the magi. As such, he was often engaged in framing other judges, assassinating those who flouted his law, and so on. At any rate it came down to crunch time and with no-one the wiser, he framed the PC's friend judge, isolated the others, and found himself head judge; and used his power to place through a ruling that could spell the downfall of the Magi. And he was a PC!

Cue players jumping out of their chairs and screaming at each other in character :D. They actually clapped when I hit them with it. Proud GM moment!

Anyway, hows about your stories?
