This kind of play directly impacts whether a non-caster without expertise is viable.</p><p></p><p>I am not saying it is wrong, but it does nerf Fighters (and Barbarians and Monks) compared to RAW and if your concern is that those classes can't contribute out of combat then this is one reason why.</p><p></p><p>The section you quoted is under a variant rule regarding combating automatic success and what you quoted illustrtes the very problem I am pointing to (and call it out as a problem).</p></blockquote><p></p>
