The Races of Malentir Vale You will notice some unusual race possibilities here, for the most part I point you towards the core races but if one particularly appeals to you I have no problem allowing you to play some of the more unusual races. Please note that unlike prior versions of D&D all races are quite strong and have their own unique advantages - playing a human or halfling is just as if not more powerful as playing a minotaur or doppelganger. Under some race descriptions I have included "Tread Lightly", this means that this race choice should be handled with care when deciding on your history and concept as you will be playing with characters from a variety of races and backgrounds. This is a group game, so your half goblin drow manticore dragon whose life goal is the death of all dwarves is not particularly welcome. Doppelganger The Doppelganger race is a shade of its once great power due to the War of a Thousand Faces which destroyed their home realm. The small number of Doppelganger's that are known to exist serve primarily as spies for the Empire of Nerath. Tread Lightly. Dragonborn While there are no clans based in the Malentir Vale there is a community of Dragonborn in Erathon as well as a number that make their way as farmers or miners. The Scales of Bahumat, a knightly order or predominantly dragonborn have a chapterhouse within the Vale also. A number of clans do battle in the swamps to the southwest believing there to be an ancient dragonlord within the murky waters. Whether they are battling to free or keep prisoned the dragon is still unclear to most outsiders. To the north is a powerful conglomeration of clans who have united under the clan name BlackXXXXXX, whispers have reached the Malentir Vale of the birth of New Arkhosia. Drow The Drow are the evil spider kissing, Lloth loving, underground dwelling elves you know and love/hate. Due to a curse bestowed upon them long ago a number of the elves of the Darkwild exhibit the exact same traits as their subterranean cousins. Therefore when playing an Elf of the Darkwild tribe you have the option of choosing the Drow race features. Please note that Drow are not well regarded within Malentir Vale. Tread Lightly. Dwarf Dwarves of the Vale generally call Stoneanvil Fortress home or make their lives amongst the villages, most notably Delverstown due to its heavy mining focus. A number of Dwarves have shown their skill as merchants so more than one Trading House is headed by one of this race. The recent (in Dwarf reckoning) taking of the Fortress from the Chaos Dwarves and rumours of a Deep Expedition to reclaim some of the lower levels has buoyed the hopes of dwarves all over the world. From the Mountainhomes, Ironcove and the Stained Peaks the eldest race come, eager to strike their fame and fortune in the new lands. Eladrin The vast majority of Eladrin make their home in the Court of the Green Lady, while a few live among the various towns and villages.
