Who wants to go chase demons in the Underdark with Drizzt?

Underdark-themed story? Yep, quite happy with that. Demon-themed story? Yep, quite happy with that.

Drizzt front and centre? And, especially, PCs helping Drizzt on his quest? Ick.

So, I'm torn on this one. I remain cautiously optimistic, but... (Still, hopefully WotC are smart enough to know not to put Drizzt at the centre of the RPG adventure - which is really the one I care about - after all, they've said that often enough!)

And the new adventure, "Out of the Abyss", releases September 15, probably with the core WPN stores getting it September 4

Drizzt for me has a long history of either being over emulated by players or abused as a DMPC by Dungeon Masters. Will be interesting to see if he spends a lot of this adventure on the bench.

If he goes the way of WoW's Thrall character and comes in and kills the big bad at the last second, well, I'm cutting that out of the adventure.

Goldomark, I'll concede it here - you were right, it is a tie-in to Sword Coast Legends. They're following the same pattern as they did previously by tying it in Neverwinter, but I wasn't sure the timing for the release Sword Coast Legends would allow for it. You called it.

What's really interesting is that this'll be the first storyline with an R.A. Salvatore novelization, which makes perfect sense branding wise. I wonder if they've got those lined up for future APs (say, seven years worth?) from him and the other authors, and that that's part of the reason they're planning on keeping their focus on the Forgotten Realms for the foreseeable future.

Also, the name of the AP proper is "Out of the Abyss." Am predicting somewhat frequent typo / auto-correct confusion between PotA and OotA.

Hey guys - awfully sorry, but I've posted an official news article/thread about this. I know Patrick beat me to it with his post (hey, articles take longer to write!), but it's better to not split discussion into two threads, and it's hard to merge threads with news articles.
